Services & Procedures

I have found that with a sensitive and patient approach, most equines can be treated WITHOUT SEDATION and to this effect I prefer not to use power tools.

If sedation becomes necessary however, I will work closely with your veterinary surgeon to ensure the best possible care is given to your equine.

Below is a list of procedures I can carry out for you and your equine within the realms of the Veterinary Surgery (Equine Dental Procedures) Order 2003.

Full equine history.
Full external head palpitation.
Assessment of symmetry of head, jaw and facial muscles.
Incisor bite and molar balance assessed pre and post treatment including “jaw slide”.
Approximate ageing.
Rasping of enamel points and edges.
Float molars.
Rasp down hooks and ramps.
Balance mouth.
Removal of calculus (tartar).
Removal of loose deciduous caps.
Bit seat shaping (if deemed necessary).
Adjust accentuated transverse ridging (ATR).
Gradually correct step or wave mouths.
Owner education.
Provision of equine dental evaluation sheet.
Provision of ongoing treatment plan if required.

Outside of these procedures, I am able to arrange for a member of our team to carry out extractions etc under the direct supervision of a veterinary surgeon.
